Before we dive into the results, let’s talk about our process. We first had to locate not only different black seed oil brands to test, but also the countries of their origin. This is because there are only a few areas in the world where the land can provide nigella sativa flowers.
We’re also only interested in testing seeds from countries that are producing the seeds specifically for oil extraction. These are the same farmers who are invested in the business and creating more fields every year. These requirements narrowed us to seven countries.
Here’s the thing: there could be hundreds of brands of black seed oil. But out of all those brands, the oil is only coming from one of these seven countries (or is a mix of multiple oils). They are: Turkey, Syria, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
Something else to consider is that Turkey and Egypt aren’t able to produce enough of their own seeds, so they import seeds from other countries to make their black seed oil. This is why the color of two different oil brands might be different. Each region where the seeds are grown have a slightly different color, but we end up with lots of colors depending on how those oils are blended.
